Moving Tips |
- When ordering your Relocation Package, be sure to mention what activities interest you. We can provide a wealth of information on cultural activities, child care facilities, public transportation, and virtually any resource in the greater Fort Mill area that you can imagine.
- Let your Relocation Counselor know if your spouse will be seeking employment. We can suggest resources that will help you.
- Are you working with a Relocation company? We will be glad to assist you within the guidelines of your package.
- Do you need to sell your home before you move to Fort Mill? We can refer you to a CENTURY 21® System office in your current hometown and arrange for a FREE comparative market analysis to help you understand the market trends in your area.
- Strictly renting? We will assist you in finding companies that handle rental properties.
- Not from around here? We offer tours of the greater Fort Mill area so you can see up close all of the wonderful things Fort Mill has to offer!
- Designate one drawer of a dresser for sheets and towels so that you won't have to rummage through boxes for these essentials the first night in your new home.
- If using a moving service, make a note of your shipment registration number found in the upper right hand corner of your bill of lading. Keep this number with you in case you need to call your mover with questions about your shipment.
- If you need to store some of your goods, it is a good idea to tour the warehouse of the mover you're planning to use. Look for cleanliness, organization and security.
- After you have thoroughly cleaned and dried the inside of your refrigerator, put a handful of fresh coffee, baking soda or charcoal in a sock or nylon stocking and place it inside to keep the interior smelling fresh.
- Take your current phone book with you. You may need to make calls to residents or businesses back in your former hometown.
- Pack heavy items in small boxes, light items in larger boxes.
- Before the van foreman leaves for your destination residence, give him a phone number where you can be reached. It is also a good idea to provide him with an alternate contact if he cannot reach you.
